Tennyson House

Palo Alto, CA

In response to how hectic life can be the design of this home creates a calm Zen like oasis for its owners.  Once beyond the entry a simple palate of earth tones and natural materials create a clean and warm envelope.  A concrete block wall acts as a spine visually connecting the spaces while also blocking out the noise from a nearby commuter train.  The family room and kitchen literally open up to a private yard complete with a fire pit table.  Every detail was considered in the spa like master bath; from the concrete soaking tub to the river rock flooring that message the feet while showering.  The owner’s basement office includes custom designed shelving for his most important objects and a concrete wine cellar with custom bronze and glass doors so he can keep an eye on his prized collection.
