The design of this winery facility includes a barrel storage building and tank building to support the production of 50,000 cases and public tasting room and offices. Recognizing that both current science and years of tradition both play a crucial role in today’s wine making the buildings are a modern interpretation of the typical farm buildings. To minimize the visual bulk and to create a rich experience for a visitor, the program is separated into three buildings; Tanks, Barrels and Tasting, which are articulated in different compositions of corrugated metal, wood siding, board formed concrete and stone. The buildings are located to create a campus of courtyards and spaces that can be used for production and double as event spaces. The orientation of the buildings either relate to the grid of the vine rows or twist to take in the sweeping vistas across the valley.
